Noma & Virgil Dual Stream @ Swamp Water Bluz - 19/08/2021

We have had a few instances at Virgil Flowers sets where attendees are pleasantly surprised by an appearance by Noma Falta who stays for three or so tunes and dual streams with Virgil as part of his set. They are very good together and the way it mostly goes off without a hitch, you would think they have been doing this kind of thing for years, Today we had an entire hour and maybe a little more with them together for an entire set.

They started with The Pretenders' "Middle of the Road" with a damn fine solo and Noma's vocals are certainly great at "channeling" Ms. Chrissie Hynde.

"Lie To Me" by Jonny Lang was next. Noma and Virgil are as tight as any outfit you can name. They seem to have the others' number and they read and anticipate and pound it out as if this was the easiest thing to do... It's not easy... but it IS truly amazing! And the sound for the dual stream was excellent.

Through "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" by Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty, Gary Moore's "Midnight Blues" and into "Spooky" by Atlanta Rhythm Section, I loved this set! Virgil took the lead vocal in "Spooky" and its a good fit for his vocal range and did a great job.

The next one is a great favorite of mine, a duet by Eric Clapton with Tina Turner, "Tearing Us Apart", true to the original and very well done!

As they worked toward the end of the set with "Gimme All Your Lovin'" by ZZ Top and then Marshall Tucker's "Can't Ya See", this pair of professionals did it right and truly made this a set to remember, finishing with "Jesus Just Left Chicago/Waiting For The Bus", probably my Favorite ZZ Top tune! "......and the crowd went wild!"

WHAT A GREAT SET! THANK YOU NOMA AND VIRGIL!

AND THANK YOU MINA & QUEEN AT SWAMP WATER BLUZ!

Swamp Water Bluz is looking good with its recent freshening up and they continue trying out new artists, as well as maintaining their "tried and true" crowd pleasers. I haven't blogged from there in
