Virgil Flowers @ Swamp Water Blues 22/07/2021

Its been awhile since I had done a blog on Virgil Flowers but we always say hello and have a few words when we see each other. I have always liked his guitar work. I first blogged him back in the "stone age" when I was a novice to both the Live Music Scene in SL and blogging (about 3 months ago...Lol... it seems a lot longer...) I found out today that since that time, even though he impressed me then, he has vastly improved and did a great set at Swamp Water Blues that had me groovin' from the first bar. Virgil let loose hard with "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors, and Roxie and I couldn't sit still. It was a great set.
Clapton's version of "Cocaine" and Bonamassa's "Sloe Gin" followed and Virgil wound up that Strat and let it howl into "Layla" and then morph into ZZ Top "A Fool for Your Stockings". All the solo work is smokin' and Virgil gives each of his offerings his own spin and IMO nailed the set list with Georgia Satellites' "...Keep Your Hands To Yourself..."
AND THEN... He did a great rendition of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls", plowed hard into "You Upset Me Baby" and Virgil never missed a beat, giving us Kenny Wayne Shepard's "Blue On Black"
The next thing I knew, he had slipped us into a sinuous blues groove... 'shadows fall, night closing in'... Moore's "Midnight Blues" and then closed out an outstanding performance with Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream".
Virgil Flowers just lets us have it with both barrels and it totally blew me away at the end....
LIKE... WOW! VIRGIL!! My Ears Are Pleasantly Ringing!
