JimmyT49 Dukes @ Swamp Water Blues 2021/06/18

It was one of those days when the tech takes over and it squashes my impetus to do much. That's when I like to listen to some good music, quaff a few ice cold beers, and puff up whatever else may be laying around. What was really exciting today was that JimmyT was doing a set at 5pm at Odyessey Music Live and another one at 7pm at Swamp Water Blues. I love both of these venues. They are large capacity places, both easily holding 100 on their expansive dance floors with the possibility of packing in even more if need be. Lag is at a minimum. When Jimmy plays, the people come out and today was no exception. And I LOVE to see Jimmy do his Thang!
What was different today was the inclusion of a LOT of new music we have not heard before from Jimmy and it was a bit of a departure from his usual hard rockin'-kick-ass blues sets. There were love songs, and tear jerkers, and Champagne When I'm Thirsty and Reefer When I Wanna Get High, and as always, Jimmy pulls these tunes from so deep inside one can feel every note and experience every lyric with an intensity that few others can project. It's kind of like what I think being hit by a freight train might feel like. His presentation is always impeccable, and considering the volume of new material I listened to, over the more than two hours that Jimmy treated us to, he only did one "restart". There were virtually no mistakes, no missed notes, no lyric issues, and the sets were a great mix of his familiar tunes and the new material.
Now Y'all have a GREAT reason to go see JImmy again... as if you needed one....
